God dag, we are Sval

We provide energy. That’s why we’re here.

In Norwegian Sval [svä'l] means fresh, pleasant and cool. Pronounce it with a long ‘a’, like father, and you’ll sound more or less like a Norwegian.

● About Sval

Where we came from – where we’re going

Sval, previously known as Solveig Gas, has worked with natural gas since the company was established in 2011. From the very beginning our main business was to transport natural gas from the North Sea to the UK and Continental Europe. Today, we are still transporting gas, but we also participate in the exploration and development of oil & gas fields and plan to become a substantial producer of oil & gas. We will continue our focus on value creation and minimizing the carbon footprint.

Bringing natural gas to Europe
Sval owns 15.6% of Gassled, the world’s largest offshore gas network. Gassled provides pipelines linking gas producing fields in the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea to the UK and Continental Europe. Sval acquired 13.3% in Polarled in October 2019, the first pipeline on the NCS to cross the Arctic Circle, and the pipeline delivers gas to the UK and continental Europe via the Nyhamna gas processing plant.

From transportation to exploration, development & production
In November 2019 we acquired Cairn’s Norwegian business, including a 10% share in the Nova field, an exploration portfolio with firm exploration wells and a qualified team. Earlier in November 2019 we also acquired a 10% share in the Duva field. These acquisitions confirms our ambition to become an exploration and production (E&P) company.

We have high ambitions and plan to continue investing in exploration, developments and production opportunities on the NCS, and we aim to create a substantial asset portfolio founded on value creation and minimized carbon footprint.

Sval is fully owned by HitecVision, the largest private equity firm in Norway with a total committed capital base of USD 6 billion. HitecVision is a serial entrepreneur, having established or invested in more than 150 companies in the offshore energy industry for more than three decades.
